I am preparing a package for the relief effort in Greece. I’m including this message.
To the brothers and sisters of Golden Dawn and of Greece-
You are not alone!
You have brothers and sisters all over the world thinking of you and praying for you every day.
We know your situation is very difficult. We know you are suffering. But please remember there is no shame in this, it is only the consequence of living in our broken, fallen world.
Please remember that there is no form of suffering that we experience- fear, cold, heat, hunger, sleeplessness, tiredness, rejection, humiliation, condemnation, and even death- that our savior Jesus Christ did not also suffer, and that he knows all our pain and suffers with us. And also please remember that as we share in his suffering, we will also share in his glory.
The people of Europe have looked to the Greeks as the first in many things- the first poets, the first sculptors, the first philosophers, the first dramatists, the first Christians- and now it seems we are seeing the Greeks first again, in standing up to the tyranny that now controls the world. We are cheering you on in the struggle and hoping every day for your victory.
Endure with strength and patience. Help each other in any way you can, if only with warm greetings and words of encouragement. Think not in your present sufferings but in the victory you work and hope for.
As the Greeks even in America greet each other- Khristós Anésti! Alithós Anésti!
