OneSTDV lampoons a typical alt-right blog post. It sounds very much like my critique of mainstream conservatives. Indeed, virtually all criticism of the system is bitching, moaning, carping, grousing, etc. amounting to nothing- which is why it is permitted. Adding race realism to this mix doesn’t change much, because no one offers a plausible alternative of action to change things.
The most honest critiques, Mindweapons and WN Think Tank, offer no political program, only self-improvement and community building. They counsel preparing for things to get bad, predicting they will.
A forest fire burns until it is burned out- until there is nothing left to burn. I don’t think most forest fires even get fought, they are simply noted and watched- the manpower and money to put them all out simply doesn’t exist. The system as instituted is a robust system designed to resist all kinds of attacks, its immune system is unparalleled. It will die of its own internal defects, as victorious systems always have. Direct opposition is both futile and dangerous.
I recently came across the concept of the “plausibility structure“, an idea that claims to define the limits of a belief system, usually religious but also secular. The trouble is conservatives inhabit mostly the same plausibility structure that leftists do. For example, as Bruce Charlton says, belief in democracy defines the difference between reactionaries and conservatives. And yet Charlton believes in a society based on the values of modern orthodox Christianity, which are shared not only by conservatives but by most leftists.
Leftism is based not only on the noxious strictures so well noted by conservatives, race realists and reactionaries, but on a well-sold promise of a better world, one that appeals to lots of people, even conservative men. Manosphere bloggers love to attack no-fault divorce- but abusive divorce was a problem for men even before, as this story about alimony reform in 1935 indicates. Or consider that sad fate of the cad Adolphus Crosbie in “The Last Chronicle of Barset”. No-fault divorce appealed to men as well as women in the 60’s and 70’s- the harridan wife would just leave, with a small child support payment for the kids. Only later did feminists, aided by conservatives, turn it into a rape-the-man exercise.
The baby boomers, more than anyone else, invested themselves in the ideology of personal freedom that leftism offered. They have marched through the West like an army of forager ants, or locusts. Generation X was left clinging to the flotsam. The Millenials are highly brainwashed, but with no jobs and student loans they can’t pay, they may seriously look for alternatives.
Russia never has, and probably never will- not for hundreds of years- recover from the damage done by communism. The West may have some more resilience, from a somewhat less toxic system of rule. But even more illusions will have to be examined, and discarded.
