OneSTDV Quits

OneSTDV just can’t deal with the hellish grimness of current social and political reality anymore-

I can’t argue is all pretty depressing. But the problem with conservatism, the alt right, reactionaries, etc. etc. is they don’t understand what they are confronting, so confronting it is confusing and frightening.

Conservatives typically look at things and say “That’s stupid! It’s wrong! It’s unfair! It makes no sense!” But whatever you think of the system, it is not stupid or irrational. It was carefully designed by geniuses to control everything, with the necessary flexibility and deniability to survive essentially all challenges.

There is the way things are, and the way things theoretically are. Conservatives are addicted to the way things theoretically are, and spend all their energy on the difference. But only conservatives care about this difference, so the energy is carefully misdirected. They think they are challenging the system, but they are only making harmless noise.

The one person who has made any serious analysis of the system is Moldbug. I don’t agree with everything he says, but everything he says is thought-provoking. He is mainly interested in the history, while I am more interested in the nuts and bolts of how it actually functions now.

I keep meaning to do my own analysis, but I’ve got other things on my mind so it will have to wait. A couple of things to remember though-

-We don’t live in a democracy, or have free speech, or live under the rule of law. That should be pretty obvious. Conservatives are sure that we do, except that our noble Constitution has been hijacked by a few….. socialists. If only.

-The legal system- including this hallowed Constitution so beloved of conservatives- is controlled by the social, academic, and political parts of the system, not the other way around. They decide what the law should be, arrange for a suit, and the court sets the law. They then tell us, well, it’s the law, it’s a matter of rights, the Law and the Constitution have spoken. The suckers buy it every time.

-The “culture” is the worst. We are told what is cool to believe and not cool, and those not conforming are brutally shamed. This ranges from straight entertainment, to a weird combination of politics, cultural commentary and gossip that is what passes for journalism these days.

It’s all perfectly ridiculous. The hysteria with the goons attack figures who make the slightest objection. The idea is people get to think they’re fighting the system while doing virtually nothing, and people get the idea they should shut up and go along.

About thrasymachus33308

I like fast cars, fast women and southern-fried rock. I have an ongoing beef with George Orwell. I take my name from a character in Plato's "Republic" who was exasperated with the kind of turgid BS that passed for deep thought and political discourse in that time and place, just as I am today. The character, whose name means "fierce fighter" was based on a real person but nobody knows for sure what his actual political beliefs were. I take my pseudonym from a character in an Adam Sandler song who was a obnoxious jerk who pissed off everybody.
