I was reminded recently of a book called “Albion’s Seed”, which tracks four major groups of British immigrants who settled in America-
Briefly they are-
-Puritans from east central England, to New England.
-Quakers from northern England to Pennsylvania.
-Anglicans from southern england to the coastal South.
-Presbyterians from the Scottish borderlands and northern Ireland to the upland South.
Note that these groups are all white, all English, all Protestant, and they all hate each other’s guts.
Moldbug’s Protestant establishment- and my master culture- are formed by the first two groups. I think I see the strength of this system- it has a good cop and a bad cop; the good cop being the Quakers (peace, equality and enlightenment for everyone!) and the bad cop being the Puritans (you are evil if you disagree with us! no dissent will be tolerated!) The two Southern groups are allied, but in a looser way.
The American Civil War was fundamentally a conflict between the Puritans and the coastal Southerners, the two most militant and aggressive of the groups. The Quakers and highlanders were dragged in, along with the other ethnic groups that had arrived by that time.
In general later arriving ethnic groups allied with the Puritans-Quakers. And why wouldn’t they? They are the people with the power. One disagrees or defies the people in power at some cost. The Jews, whatever their claims of independence, have been slavish sycophants of this system, an obvious example being their burning desire to attend the old universities of these people.
The primary crack in the system came in the 60’s. The PQs decided housing in the North should be desegregated. This was a direct attack not only on the community feeling, but on the physical safety of what were called in the 70’s and 80’s “the ethnics”- Irish, Italians, other eastern and southern Europeans, and a significant minority of Jews.
These people- like white Southerners- were happy clients of the New Deal. The New Deal, or course, almost explicitly excluded blacks, which is why it was acceptable- as Sailer likes to point out, people support government programs when they benefit people like themselves. But also including a group of people likely to be beneficiaries only destroys the system, as we see today in California.
The whites of the South withdrew their partial and grudging cooperation in the 60s’s as the system made them scapegoats for social problems. And the white ethnics of the North largely withdrew their happy and enthusiastic cooperation just a few years later, forming an uneasy alliance.
I’m about as white as you can get without being an albino. I’m an experienced dermatology patient. I’m not British and not Protestant and don’t feel any identification with these things. My political feelings- a romantic sort of ultraviolence- are something much more German or Spanish. Still people of my sort find themselves facing off together, in a cage match of non-power structure whites against power structure whites.
I was surprised to find Jim Goad, author of “The Redneck Manifesto”, writing in Taki’s Magazine, but here he is, ruminating on “white traitors”-
What he doesn’t understand is they are not traitors, because there is no such thing as white people.
