Our Elite

Charles Murray recently wrote a column about the elite that has people buzzing-

Anne Applebaum points out that Charles Murray himself is a member of the elite-

Indeed he is. And people certainly don’t mind elites, of the right type. I would break down the good, the neutral, and the bad.

The good elite is people in hard sciences, technology and related activities were smart people produce value. If you’re reading this it’s because very smart, creative people came up with a way to easily share information without printing or broadcasting it. We all admire these people and their contributions.

The neutral elite is composed of people in business, finance, and the “creative” fields. Is Apple an elite company? Most would say yes. But Apple has always used the Graphical User Interface invented by Xerox at the Palo Alto Research Center. And they gave up their own operating system, and now use a version of Unix, invented by Kernigan and Ritchie at the University of Utah. Apple is just a marketing outfit. They sell things made by the good elite, though personally I find their positioning of their products for snob appeal pretty off-putting.

Most of business, finance and marketing fall in this category. These people produce things that may or may not have any value, but don’t compel people so they don’t do much harm. Sometimes they get together and create dumb things like bubbles, but nobody had to buy Pets.com stock or mortgage-backed securities. The harm they do affects a lot of other people sometimes, but everyone must regard their financial destinies as in their own hands.

The bad elite- the people that people fear and resent- are academics, lawyers, and judges, who control society largely through enforcing idiotic lies that everybody knows are idiotic lies but can’t say are. These “elites” are indeed highly intelligent people, but their education consists of years of brainwashing in untruths, and various sophisticated rationalizations for why black people are really oppressed, or why the government borrowing and spending money makes society more wealthy, or how all people can become well-educated. The real business of these people is maintaining the social alliance of blacks, Jews, Latinos, homosexuals, government employees, lawyers, and other people who are clients of the system by passing out benefits and intimidating ordinary white people into not complaining.

These people are currently poisoning the atmosphere to an unprecedented extent. They used to be able to convince people they weren’t directly paying off that it was good to go along with them, because they maintained social peace and economic stability. They have failed to maintain or restore economic stability and social peace seems to have deteriorated as well. Now all they have is urgent appeals to their clients and threatening bluster for the rest.

Trust, once lost, is rarely regained. Bill Clinton- and indeed George W. Bush- were able to hold peoples’ trust because they didn’t hate and despise the people from which they came. Obama and his crew can barely hide their disdain for America in general. Why people didn’t see this in 2008 is hard to understand, but people are easily fooled and have long been told they must overlook much about black people. Obama had his chance and he blew it. And he has taken a lot of the bad elite with him in the process.

About thrasymachus33308

I like fast cars, fast women and southern-fried rock. I have an ongoing beef with George Orwell. I take my name from a character in Plato's "Republic" who was exasperated with the kind of turgid BS that passed for deep thought and political discourse in that time and place, just as I am today. The character, whose name means "fierce fighter" was based on a real person but nobody knows for sure what his actual political beliefs were. I take my pseudonym from a character in an Adam Sandler song who was a obnoxious jerk who pissed off everybody.

Jesus Christ, I was just going through your backlog here, for shits and giggles, but I have to say this is the clearest explanation of our situation I’ve ever seen. Jesus. You probably won’t even see this since it’s so old, but still. Goddamn.
