Dove World Outreach Center is indeed an insignificant organization. I was driving through Gainesville once, trying to get directions, and I told the person I was talking to on the phone I had just driven by the Baptist church. Later I realized how absurd that was, as Gainesville, like many other southern towns, seems to have a Baptist church every other block. In a town of numerous Baptist churches it seems to have a membership of about 50, putting it at the low end of viability. The pastor, Terry Jones, keeps it going with proceeds from his Ebay business, in which some members work without compensation- he can’t even make it on offerings, but more about this later.
Rathering than living in obscurity Jones has become very famous in the last week or so, for making plans to burn Korans on Saturday. Earlier he made a little noise with a book, “Islam Is Of The Devil”, some signs with that on it, and a few children wearing such T-shirts. These are all crimethink subject to the usual shunning but but burning Korans gets the attention of Moslems overseas.
The problem with taking the red pill is things get very complicated. The funny thing is the virtual 100% condemnation of what is in reality a very innocuous act. You burn a book. So what? It’s not the only copy of a rare and important manuscript, it’s a very common book available in paperback at any bookstore. You can easily buy one yourself and burn it Saturday if you want. Thousands, nay millions will roll off the printing presses to replace it. Unless you’ve left a few $100 dollar bills in it or burn yourself in the process you nor anyone else will be put out in any way.
But Moslems are offended, and Moslems can’t be offended, that is the rule. I would have a little more respect for these people if they had ever said one word about the evil behavior of Moslems, but that is not on the system’s agenda.
Jones will be punished, no question about it. It’s already begun. He is being “investigated”, the fate of many who defy the system- by “reporters” and soon by the IRS. His insurance has been cancelled, putting his church mortgage in default, so he will lose that. The tax exemption for his church has been pulled, for daring to criticize the gay mayor. I doubt he will be able to sell anything on Ebay anymore, even under other names. The line between his personal and church finances is fuzzy, which will no doubt lead to huge fines and penalties. The social ostracism of the master class doesn’t matter to him, but all these other things do.
The Moslems don’t understand this though. For them he has to be positively stopped and punished by the government. But the soft totalitarianism of the West needs to maintain the bare fiction of freedom, so almost no one is suggesting he be actually stopped by the government, short of a few at firedoglake.com and maybe some other far lefties. I heard something about the ink being a pollutant, so maybe the fire department will immediately put the fire out on that basis. More likely they will just use that as a reason to levy a much larger fine for the unauthorized fire.
The condemnation is all but universal and very uniform, from Hillary Clinton to Sarah Palin. Michael Bloomberg has shocked everyone by affirming the church does indeed have the right to the burning. It has provided the golden opportunity for legions to prove what good people they are. The uniformity proves the effectiveness of the mind control by the system really works.
